GA and Membership Relations

Shaping the Future of the Aquatic Community

The Northshore Aquatic Association relies on a tight collaboration between its Executive Committee and its member pools. Together, we work to advance and implement policies and programs which promote Competitive Swimming as an active and accessible part of our aquatic culture and communities.

Each member pool designates two representatives who advance pool interests at the NAA General Assembly. These representatives also serve as main liaisons between the NAA and the community. Because of this, each member pool plays a key role in improving Competitive Swimming programs, as well as the outreach of the Association in Montréal.

The General Assembly

The General Assembly (GA) is the primary forum for open discussion, exchange and decision-making within the NAA, guiding all orientations and policies taken by the Association.

Meeting four times a year, the GA works together in order to ensure that all motions, resolutions and amendments best reflect the interests of the Association and all its members. Proposed changes to the competition structure, eligibility requirements, or operational guidelines are submitted for GA review before being formally adopted. The Vice-President facilitates this process by proposing orientations, providing helpful information and addressing concerns raised by member pools.

A record of all proposed and approved motions, resolutions and amendments pertaining to Competitive Swimming is maintained by the Vice-President for future reference.

Promoting Member Unity and Cohesion

Beyond operations and logistics, the Vice-President also plays a central role in resolving disputes, adapting rules to evolving needs, and implementing strategies which strengthen the future of Competitive Swimming in the Montréal.

Member unity and cohesion is at the centre of the success of this mission. By fostering a healthy and amicable relationship between members of different pools, the NAA is able to create an environment in which athletes, volunteers, and families can thrive, progress and contribute themselves to the values and mission of the NAA.
