High Spirits Outshine Pouring Rain at Summer Swim Meet ’26

This weekend saw hundreds of summer swimmers convene at Thorndale Pool for the annual Summer Swim Meet of the Northshore Aquatic Association. Nearly 200 children ranging from 4 to 14 in ages braved the rain to swim and race at this exclusive championship dedicated to swimmers who have yet to affiliate with a winter swim club.

Despite encountering a brief pause at the start of the day for environmental conditions, the competition finished without any hiccups. “I am delighted by the outcome of this meet”, said Leniyo Amayao, Vice-President of Competitive Swimming. “As always, Thorndale Pool shows us how to welcome the membership and run a fun and exciting meet.”

Team Cheering Raises Spirits as Swimmers win Prizes

From the sidelines, spectators cheered on with excitement. Coaches and parents alike chanted team cheers and hollered out words of encouragement as their swimmers raced in front of them to gain points for their teams.

To fuel the excitement, Thorndale Pool set out to distribute prizes to the winners of several heats, while Arena Canada offered a free pair of goggles to overall first-place winners throughout the day.

Next Up: Time Trials

As the season reaches its half-point, teams are preparing to send their swimmers to Time Trials, in two weeks, with the hopes of qualifying them for the prestigious end-of-season Championship ‘Big’ Meet.
