The Northshore Aquatic Association and Thorndale Pool are pleased to have hosted the annual Summer Swim Meet on July 19, 2025. A total of 235 swimmers from fourteen teams came together on a warm and sunny day to compete at Thorndale Pool, host of the 2025 Summer Swim Meet.

First introduced in 2006, the Summer Swim Meet is a one-of-a-kind community event. Tailored to the “summer” swimmer, this competition is the only swim meet in Canada specifically designed to give non-competitive swimmers a chance to swim, rank and win at a large championship-style meet. Through this competition, the Association intends to advance its mission in providing accessible aquatic activities throughout Montréal and in encouraging children to further pursue their cherished aquatic disciplines at a more-established swimming club.

Representatives from major swimming clubs across the West Island attended to seek new talent and recruit young swimmers to their teams for the upcoming 2026 season.

Swimming Bursaries Sponsored by DDO Swimming and the Dorval Swim Club

New this year, two swim clubs have partnered with the NAA to provide opportunities to several participants of the Summer Swim Meet

In partnership with DDO Swimming, a bursary will be offered to the two winners in the “FR, 8 & Under” event. The two winners of the bursaries will be contacted in the upcoming week.

In partnership with the Dorval Swim Club, all SSM participants registering in the upcoming 25-26 season of the Club will receive a discount. Further information regarding the initiative will be communicated in the upcoming days.

Promoting Community Services in Partnership with the YMCA

Viral Desai, coordinator of the West Island youth programs for the YMCA, was present at Summer Swim Meet to meet members and promote YMCA activities.

The NAA is pleased to have welcomed the YMCA to Summer Swim Meet to promote their community services.

Throughout the event, representatives from the YMCA met with parents and swimmers, to inform them of the various programs available to them.

In addition to attending Summer Swim Meet, the YMCA and NAA Competitive Swimming have partnered to organize a joint volunteer program. Through this new partnership, youth from the YMCA will volunteer at several NAA Competitive Swimming events.

We thank the YMCA for their continued support of youth and the NAA community,.

Fostering a Culture of Volunteerism—Thank You

The NAA would like to thank the dozens of volunteers who have made this event possible. Fully volunteer-run, the Association’s activities rely on hundreds of volunteers every year who enable it to serve communities across the West Island.

This year’s Summer Swim Meet benefited from nine NAA-sponsored volunteers thanks to the Student Volunteer Experience Programme.

The NAA would also like to thank the YMCA for its participation in the new volunteer partnership.
