One Million Metres: The NAA Announces its 2025 Public Awareness and Solidarity Campaign

[2025-07-06]

The NAA is excited to announce its 2025 Public Awareness and Solidarity campaign, in partnership with Le Phare, Children’s Palliative Care Home.

Located in Montréal, Le Phare is the first and most important palliative care home specifically for children in Québec. Since 1999, the centre offers palliative care-related services and support for children and their families—all free of charge.

More information about Le Phare, Children’s Palliative Care Home is available at phare-lighthouse.com.

Over the 2025 Season, several pools have pledged to swim a collective one million metres (40,000 laps), in honour of the volunteers, healthcare professionals, families, and children of Le Phare. With this campaign, the NAA also wishes to highlight the strength of community spirit and the power of youth engagement.

This campaign marks a unique collaboration between sport and solidarity. It reflects the NAA’s commitment to fostering social awareness, community involvement, and a culture of compassion among its 1,300+ young athletes.

Join the Swim: Contribute Laps

We need your help! Whether you are an experienced swimmer or a beginner, a senior or an infant, all can contribute laps to our million-metre initiative and raise awareness for this important palliative care home.

Several NAA member pools are organizing swimming sessions which will count toward the Campaign. Reach out to your local NAA pool to obtain information on the date of their session.

The NAA and its member pools are proud to position itself as a leader of the Community. Together, stroke by stroke, let’s all swim for something greater.
